SPC flooring in Brazil: compare wear layer, core and total thickness
Two quotations can show the same overall thickness while describing different floor constructions. A Brazilian distributor needs a layer-by-layer comparison before deciding which sample belongs in the showroom or a commercial project.
Ask for separate declarations of wear layer, core, attached backing and overall thickness. Then review the intended use, installation instructions and warranty. A thicker total board is not automatically the better choice for the same application.
Start with four separate fields
Create a comparison sheet with one column for each candidate SKU. Record the wear layer, rigid core, backing material and total thickness exactly as declared. Ask whether the quoted total includes the pad and whether dimensional tolerances are available. Tarkett’s referenced specification illustrates separate layer declarations; its measurements are not specifications for Luvie. Keep an unanswered field visibly blank instead of filling it from a similar-looking listing.
Compare the complete installed proposal
A purchasing decision also includes the locking system, matching transitions, substrate preparation and permitted underlay. Ask each supplier to price the same scope. A low board price that excludes necessary accessories cannot be compared directly with a complete package. For a Brazil-bound order, keep product cost separate from freight, local taxes and installation allowances supplied by the relevant service providers.
Connect the sample to the intended buyer
A residential bedroom and an office with wheeled seating are different use cases. Tell the supplier which one the order serves. Ask for relevant evidence and exclusions rather than treating wear-layer thickness as proof of every performance claim. Keep the sample code on the comparison sheet and require written approval if the proposed construction changes between sampling and production.
Give the sales team a usable Portuguese brief
Prepare a short Portuguese specification summary using the verified figures and original units.
