SPC flooring in Iraq: plan replacement planks before buying
A damaged plank becomes a procurement problem when nobody can identify the original floor. For an Iraq-bound SPC order, plan the replacement route while the product is still being selected. A later board with a similar oak colour may have a different locking profile, size or finish and may not be usable with the installed flooring.

Agree the spare-material quantity with the buyer and installer, retain exact product and batch identifiers, and request the approved repair method. Do not promise that any matching-looking plank can be exchanged independently or that a future production run will be identical.
Identify more than the showroom colour
Record the SKU, dimensions, construction, backing, locking system and batch information available from the supplier. Keep a carton-label photograph with the approved sample and purchase order. GS1’s traceability standard supports structured identification of products and batches; it does not imply that a particular supplier uses GS1 identifiers. Use the identifiers actually supplied, consistently, and ask for clarification where two documents describe the same item differently.
Separate repair approval from spare availability
Ask the flooring supplier for its product-specific repair guidance and have the installer assess access to the affected area. A floating click installation is not the same as loose-lay flooring. Do not describe cutting, gluing or reusing locking edges as universally acceptable. Confirm whether furniture, trims or adjoining rooms affect the likely work. The customer needs to know what is included in the service, not just that spare boards exist.
Choose a reserve based on the project
Discuss room layout, installed area, cut patterns and the buyer’s service expectations before agreeing a reserve. There is no single percentage that this guide can responsibly prescribe. For an Iraqi distributor serving several projects, keep each project’s reserved material distinguishable from saleable stock. Ask about storage instructions, ownership and release authorization. A reserve that is sold accidentally is not an effective after-sales plan.
Make the handover useful months later
Give the customer a record that connects each room to the product code and storage location of its spares. Note who should be contacted before a repair and which documents the installer needs. If the original product becomes unavailable, request a documented compatibility assessment rather than accepting a colour match alone. Keep replacement-material availability separate from warranty eligibility: the existence of spare stock does not establish who pays for a repair.

- Iraq delivery location and quotation scope for spare material.
Frequently asked questions
Can a new production batch be assumed to match the installed floor?
No. Confirm appearance and technical compatibility; retained original material may help, but storage and condition still matter.
Are replacement planks automatically covered by warranty?
No. Check the applicable written warranty and the cause of the damage. This guide does not promise coverage.
