WPC wall panels for UAE projects: what to check when an EPD is requested
A UAE fit-out buyer may receive an environmental product declaration in a supplier’s document pack and assume the sustainability requirement is closed. First check whether the declaration actually covers the quoted WPC panel and the project’s requested evidence. A document belonging to another product, factory or declared scope cannot be accepted simply because the cover looks official. This guide does not claim that Luvie holds an EPD or that one is mandatory for every UAE project.

Verify identity, scope, registration and validity, then ask the project’s sustainability reviewer whether the declaration meets the specified requirement. An EPD is environmental information, not automatic proof that a product is superior or certified for every other performance requirement.
Ask the project team to define the requirement
Request the exact specification clause and acceptable evidence rather than forwarding a vague request for a green certificate. Establish who reviews the submission, which product is being assessed and whether the requirement applies to the panel alone or a wider installed system. Record open questions before ordering. A Dubai project and an Abu Dhabi project may use different briefs; do not infer a universal local obligation from a requirement on one job.
Match the declaration to the quoted product
Check the named declaration holder, covered product or group, production scope, registration identifier and stated validity. Follow the programme operator’s registry link where available and compare it with the supplied file. If the product is part of a group, ask how the quoted reference falls within the declared scope. Keep that explanation with the quotation. A supplier’s logo on an accompanying brochure does not expand the scope of the underlying declaration.
Do not rank products from unmatched numbers
GSA explains that having an EPD does not imply environmental superiority. Before comparing values, ask the reviewer to check the declared or functional unit, relevant product-category rules, life-cycle modules and assumptions. Do not compare a value per kilogram with one per square metre as though they measure the same installed solution. Missing stages or different assumptions need explanation, not a headline claiming a lower footprint. The linked US guidance is explanatory, not UAE project approval.
Keep other evidence and decisions separate
An EPD does not replace the project’s fire, emissions, installation or appearance review. Track each requirement separately, with the document received, reviewer and remaining gap. Where no applicable EPD is available, say so and ask the project team how to proceed; do not relabel a technical sheet as an EPD. Preserve the accepted file and its revision with the order, and reopen the review if the proposed product or declared scope changes.
Before you request a quotation
- Exact project requirement and reviewer
- Product identity, scope and registry check
- Comparable units and assessment boundaries
- Separate evidence register and approval record
Frequently asked questions
Does an EPD prove a panel is the greenest option?
No. It provides information that needs appropriate interpretation and comparison.
Can an EPD for a different WPC product cover my order?
Not automatically. The quoted product must be within the declaration’s documented scope.
Next step
Send Luvie the exact WPC reference and the UAE project’s document requirements. Ask which current evidence is available and keep any missing environmental declaration visible in the approval process.
