PU stone panels for Uzbekistan: calculate shipping volume from the packed goods

A lightweight decorative panel is not automatically inexpensive to transport. A relief face, protective inserts and outer packaging can occupy more space than a buyer expects from the panel’s nominal dimensions. For a PU stone-effect panel order to Uzbekistan, ask for a packing proposal before comparing freight quotations. This guide separates product measurements from shipping measurements; it does not quote a route, carrier tariff or transit time.

Short answer

Use the external dimensions and gross weight of each shipping unit. Calculate total packed volume, identify pallet or crate dimensions separately, and ask the forwarder which charging basis and handling rules apply to the actual service.

Ask for the package, not a panel-area conversion

Request the number of panels per carton, carton count, outer length, width and height, and gross weight. If multiple carton types are used, list them separately. For palletised goods, obtain overall loaded pallet dimensions and weight rather than adding an empty pallet size to a carton estimate. Record whether figures are preliminary or measured after packing. Confirm the final version before shipment booking and retain both the packing list and its revision date.

Calculate cubic metres without mixing units

For identical cartons, total volume in cubic metres equals outer length × width × height in metres × carton count. As a calculation example only, ten hypothetical boxes measuring 1.00 × 0.50 × 0.20 metres occupy 1.00 cubic metre before any additional pallet envelope. These are not Luvie packing dimensions. Do not multiply the installed wall area by nominal panel thickness: that excludes relief shape, voids and protective packing. Do not count the same cartons and their enclosing pallet as two separate shipment volumes.

Let the carrier confirm the charging basis

DHL Express explains the distinction between actual and volumetric weight for its service. That is a useful warning against pricing a bulky package by kilograms alone, not a universal factor for road, rail, air or multimodal freight to Uzbekistan. Give the selected forwarder the real origin, destination, package list and handling requirements. Ask whether dimensional weight, volume, loading space, minimum charges or other service-specific conditions affect the quote. Compare quotations with the same scope and assumptions.

Protect the relief and confirm handling assumptions

Do not reduce protection solely to make a spreadsheet volume smaller. Ask the supplier how the face and edges are supported and whether the proposed units can be stacked under the selected packing design. Confirm any non-stackable declaration, lifting access and final delivery constraints with the forwarder and receiver. If a sample shipment uses a different package from a bulk order, do not extrapolate its freight cost per panel. Requote after a material packing change and keep the approved package specification with the order.

Before you request a quotation

  • Outer dimensions and gross weight by package type
  • Total volume with consistent units
  • Confirmed carrier charging basis and service scope
  • Protection, stacking and delivery assumptions

Frequently asked questions

Does low panel weight guarantee low freight cost?

No. Space occupied and the chosen service’s charging conditions can matter as well as actual weight.

Can I use the sample parcel rate for a bulk order?

Not reliably. Packaging, service, quantity and handling may differ; request a shipment-specific quotation.

Next step

Send Luvie the PU reference, quantity and Uzbekistan delivery destination. Request a current packing proposal, then ask your forwarder to quote the same documented package list.
