WPC wall panels in Saudi Arabia: what to check when a project asks for an FSC claim
A wood-look WPC wall panel is not automatically an FSC-certified product. When a Saudi project specification asks for an FSC claim, procurement needs evidence linked to the actual supplied item and transaction, not a green icon in a presentation. This guide helps a buyer organise that review. It does not claim that Luvie holds FSC certification, that a particular panel qualifies, or that every Saudi project requires it.

First establish the project requirement and the offered product identity. Ask for applicable certification and transaction evidence, have the claim reviewed, and keep unverified products out of certified marketing.
Turn the project wording into a purchase condition
Ask the architect or procurement reviewer for the exact requirement: which products, what claim and which supporting records are acceptable? Identify whether it applies to the decorative panel, another wood-based component or a wider project scope. A Riyadh office fit-out and a Jeddah hotel may have different client specifications; neither should become a blanket national claim. Record the reviewer and decision deadline before sampling. If the proposed panel cannot meet the requirement, discuss an approved alternative rather than promising documentation will appear after delivery.
Identify the supplied WPC before evaluating a claim
Keep the manufacturer reference, composition information, finish, dimensions and selling entity together. WPC is a category description, not certification evidence. A certificate shown for another company or unrelated product group does not answer whether the offered item is covered. Ask the supplier to explain the applicable scope and verify current details through the scheme’s official resources or certification body. Do not treat a familiar logo on packaging as the complete review. Keep a dated record of what was checked, including any unresolved mismatch in the company name or product description.
Follow the claim into the transaction documents
FSC UK explains that not every product sold by a certified organisation must itself be certified, and that correct claims on sales documents matter for maintaining the chain. Ask which specific lines will carry the applicable claim and which will not. Keep uncertified alternatives clearly separate in the approval schedule. Do not copy a supplier certificate onto your own invoice or assume that your business can issue FSC claims without checking its own requirements. FSC UK distinguishes buying and selling labelled products from applying trademarks or issuing claims; obtain appropriate scheme guidance for your role.
Keep sourcing evidence separate from performance approval
A sourcing claim does not establish the panel’s fire performance, emissions, moisture suitability or installation method. Maintain a separate technical approval track. A practical review sheet can record product identity, requested claim, evidence received, reviewer decision and remaining gaps. Mark a rejected or unverified claim plainly in the quotation comparison. Before purchase, check that the accepted product and selling entity still match the final order. If a replacement is offered, reopen the evidence review rather than transferring an earlier approval to a similar-looking finish.
Before you request a quotation
- Exact project requirement and reviewer
- Product and selling entity identified
- Applicable scope and sales-document claim reviewed
- Separate technical approval and no unsupported marketing
Frequently asked questions
Does a wood-effect surface prove certified wood sourcing?
No. Appearance cannot establish material sourcing or certification.
Does FSC evidence replace fire testing?
No. Sourcing and fire-performance evidence answer different questions and must be reviewed separately.
Next step
Send Luvie the exact WPC reference and your Saudi project’s document requirements. Ask what evidence is available now, and keep any missing certification visible before approving an order.
