WPC wall panels for Saudi hotels: what to put in the purchase brief

A hotel lobby image can start the design conversation, but it cannot define a wall-panel order. For a Saudi hotel project, the buyer needs the designer, installer and importer to agree on the same scope before a finish is purchased. A decorative reception wall and a corridor may look similar while carrying different project requirements.

Short answer

Buy against an approved zone-by-zone specification. Coordinate appearance, technical evidence, import requirements and delivery stages separately; a decorative sample cannot approve all four.

Separate hotel zones in the quantity schedule

Identify reception, corridors, guest rooms and service areas individually. Record whether the proposed application is indoors, the substrate, exposed edges and adjacent doors or services. Do not extend an indoor decorative product to exterior areas because the color matches. Ask the design team to identify the required performance for each zone. Keep product substitutions visible in the schedule so a general “WPC panel” line does not conceal different constructions or missing accessories.

Request evidence that matches the proposed system

Ask which model, finish, substrate and fixing arrangement a report covers. Have the project’s responsible consultant assess fire and other applicable requirements; do not translate “fire resistant” on a sales sheet into a project approval. Confirm cleaning instructions with the hotel operations team before accepting a heavily textured finish. Maintenance access, corner details and replacement strategy should be reviewed with the installer. A sample room or wall can demonstrate appearance and workmanship, not every long-term performance claim.

Assign the Saudi import review before shipment

SASO describes product registration and conformity services through Saber. The importer must determine the route applicable to the actual product and current technical regulations. Do not assume another supplier’s certificate covers the proposed model or that decorative use creates an exemption. Establish who provides the product description, model details and supporting file, and who checks the applicable shipment requirements. Keep the import-document decision separate from the hotel consultant’s material approval: they answer different questions.

Align mock-up approval with phased delivery

Approve a representative area under the intended lighting, including joints, corners and a service opening where relevant. Record the accepted finish and revision. For phased room handover, ask how batches will be identified and allocated so adjacent areas are not mixed casually. Separate project quantities from agreed replacement stock and confirm where each phase is received. Avoid treating a supplier’s dispatch estimate as a guaranteed site-ready date; transport, clearance and installation readiness need coordination.

Before you request a quotation

Frequently asked questions

Does WPC automatically satisfy a hotel fire requirement?

No. The responsible reviewer must assess evidence for the specified product and assembly.

Is a finish sample enough to release a full order?

Not by itself. Resolve technical, accessory and import-document questions as well.
