PU stone panels for UAE exhibitions: plan the display after the event
For a UAE exhibition buyer, the useful life of a stone-look display does not have to end when the event closes. However, choosing PU decorative panels does not by itself make a booth reusable. The backing, joints, attachment method and return packaging determine whether the finish can be recovered. Plan those decisions before ordering panels, not during the final evening of dismantling.
Treat the decorative panel and its supporting display system as different items. Ask the stand contractor to design and approve the complete assembly for the venue, including dismantling. Trial the intended removal and packing method before describing the display as reusable. Do not assume that a permanently bonded finish can be removed intact.
Check the venue and stand design before choosing a finish
Send the proposed finish and current product information to the responsible exhibition contractor. Ask which documents and approvals the venue requires for the actual assembly, and who obtains them. A panel sample is not evidence of stand stability or acceptance by an organizer. HSE publishes general guidance on temporary demountable structures, including construction and deconstruction; it is a useful planning reference, not UAE venue approval. Any structural, fire or installation requirements must be resolved by the responsible professionals and the venue. Do not order on the assumption that another exhibitor used something similar.
Separate removable modules from permanently bonded surfaces
Discuss whether the contractor can use manageable backing modules that remain intact between events. Confirm their actual dimensions, weights, storage arrangements and attachment details rather than specifying unsupported fixing methods. If panels are permanently attached to backing boards, reuse may mean retaining the whole module, not peeling off the decorative face. Include corner pieces and edge finishing in the trial. A neat front view alone is not enough: the contractor must also be able to handle, connect and later remove the assembly safely. Trial dismantling and return packaging before dispatch
Build a representative section using the proposed materials and have the responsible contractor assess the full process. Damage history, handling and future configurations can change the outcome. Agree who supplies replacement finishing materials and how damaged components will be separated from items intended for reuse.
Write the return plan into the exhibition scope
Identify who supervises dismantling, who records the returned modules and where they will be stored. Confirm collection arrangements with the venue and transport provider without assuming unrestricted access after closing. Label the reusable components with their module position and keep the assembly drawings with the inventory. Before the next event, inspect the stored items and ask the contractor to confirm suitability for the revised stand. Reusing an attractive finish is a procurement objective, not an automatic approval to reuse its entire supporting structure unchanged.
