PU stone panels in Uzbekistan: assess old wallpaper first
Covering an old wallpapered feature wall may appear faster than removing the existing finish. For a showroom renovation in Uzbekistan, that shortcut can leave the strength of the whole finish dependent on an unknown paper and adhesive layer. Evaluate the wall before deciding which PU stone-look panels and installation materials to buy.

Do not assume that wallpaper is a suitable bonding surface. Have the installer assess the existing layers and obtain the selected panel and adhesive suppliers’ requirements. Price removal and preparation where needed. A strong new adhesive cannot by itself prove that the old wallcovering is securely attached to the underlying wall.
Identify what is behind the visible finish
Record the wall construction, number of apparent finish layers and any loose seams, staining or damaged areas. Ask the installer to inspect representative locations using an appropriate method agreed with the property owner. Do not cover unresolved dampness or an unsound surface. Photographs help a supplier understand the project but cannot establish concealed bond strength or replace a site assessment.
Ask for a product-specific preparation route
Provide the proposed panel and adhesive identifiers alongside the wall assessment. Orac’s FAQ recommends removing wallpaper before installing its own decorative products. That advice illustrates why existing finishes need attention; it is not an installation approval for Luvie PU panels or permission to borrow an Orac adhesive specification. Request the applicable preparation instructions for the chosen system and identify what must be checked after removal.
Separate preparation time from panel delivery
A panel shipment date does not mean the wall is ready. Ask the contractor to identify removal, repairs, drying or curing conditions and acceptance checks before installation starts, using the relevant product instructions. For a Tashkent showroom, coordinate working areas and protection of displays with the operator. Treat these as site-specific arrangements rather than promised standard durations. Include preparation as a separate quotation item so bids can be compared fairly.
Approve the finish only after the base is accepted
Once the responsible installer accepts the prepared substrate, review a representative sample arrangement if required. Check relief, seams and adjacent edges under the proposed lighting. Keep appearance approval separate from technical acceptance and record both decisions. Retain the preparation record, product identifiers and current instructions for handover. If the old finish cannot be removed or assessed safely, ask the project professional to evaluate another suitable construction rather than improvising a direct bond.

Frequently asked questions
Will a stronger adhesive solve weak wallpaper adhesion?
Not necessarily. The weakest existing layer can still control the result. Have the substrate assessed and follow the selected system’s instructions.
Can the supplier approve the wall from a photo?
A photo can support an initial discussion, but concealed layers and actual site condition require assessment by the responsible installer or professional.
