PVC wall panels in Brazil: coordinate sockets before ordering
A decorative wall can look complete on an elevation drawing while leaving every socket awkwardly recessed or crossing a panel joint. For Brazilian renovation buyers, the useful procurement step is to coordinate PVC wall panels with the electrical fittings before ordering. This is a scope and appearance checklist, not electrical installation advice.

Give the panel installer and qualified electrician the same wall elevation, panel profile and finished-depth proposal. Ask them to confirm a compliant, maintainable arrangement for each fitting. Do not assume the decorative panel can support electrical equipment or that an existing box remains suitable after the wall is built out.
Create a fitting schedule for each wall
Number sockets, switches, data outlets and other wall-mounted controls on the elevation. Record faceplate dimensions and the actual panel pattern, including flutes or raised areas. An outlet centred on a drawing may land across an uneven profile when the panel module is laid out. Resolve the visual position with the designer while leaving electrical suitability and any required changes to the responsible electrician.
Review the new finished wall depth
Provide the combined depth of the proposed panel and mounting arrangement, not just a nominal panel thickness. Ask the electrician to assess the existing boxes and fittings against that proposal and applicable local requirements. Do not improvise extensions or conceal inaccessible connections. For a Brazilian apartment renovation, agree who obtains site access and coordinates any building-management restrictions before materials are cut. These are project arrangements, not a universal rule for every property.
Specify the interface rather than a larger cover
A larger faceplate may conceal a rough opening without solving mounting, access or support. Request an approved detail that explains how the fitting meets the finished surface. Dumaplast’s referenced guide illustrates the distinction between decorative cladding and support behind it for accessories; it does not approve an electrical detail for Luvie panels. Keep the selected product’s instructions and the electrician’s requirements together. Never infer electrical safety from a decorative sample.
Approve the appearance before repeated cutting
Where appropriate, review a non-energized sample of the proposed panel and cover arrangement with the relevant trades. Check alignment, finish edges and access without treating this visual review as an electrical inspection. Record approved locations and responsibility for cut-outs in the Portuguese work package. Separate panel supply, trims, cutting and electrical work in the quotation so a low panel price does not disguise an incomplete scope.
Before you request a quotation
- Wall elevations with each fitting and faceplate identified.
- Panel profile and complete finished-depth proposal.
- Qualified electrician review and agreed trade responsibilities.
- Destination in Brazil, quantities and cut-out scope for quotation.
Frequently asked questions
Can a decorative panel serve as the mounting base for a socket?
Do not assume so. The qualified electrician must confirm the appropriate support and installation for the actual assembly.
Should the supplier cut every opening at the factory?
Only after dimensions, positions and tolerances are agreed. Ask whether site verification is needed before releasing a cut-out schedule.
