PVC sales units: cartons, pieces and coverage
PVC wall panel sales units in Uzbekistan can cause an avoidable dispute when the importer buys cartons, the dealer advertises square metres and the installer requests individual lengths. All three can be legitimate units, but they must describe the same physical goods. A clear conversion record prevents a simple quantity question from becoming an accusation of short delivery.

Maintain one model-specific conversion showing pieces per intact carton, nominal dimensions and confirmed effective installed coverage. Keep commercial rounding separate from measured coverage, and state whether opened cartons can be sold or returned.
Separate dimensions from installed coverage
A panel’s overall width may include a joint that does not add to the finished visible area. Ask for effective coverage for the actual profile, together with the relevant drawing. Do not derive it from a similar sample or a photograph. Record the unit used in the supplier quote and in your customer price list. If coverage remains unconfirmed, label it as pending rather than inserting a convenient rounded figure.
Make the arithmetic visible on the quotation
Show the number of cartons, pieces per carton and resulting total pieces. If you also quote area, explain the coverage basis. Distinguish material supplied from the net project wall area, which can require cuts and allowances. A quotation should let the buyer reconstruct the calculation without guessing. Keep trim lengths and accessory pieces on separate lines instead of hiding them inside a single square-metre rate.
Define the policy for split cartons
Opening a carton changes the stock record even when every remaining piece is usable. Identify the remaining count, model and batch, and protect loose pieces appropriately. State whether partial cartons are sold by piece and whether their packaging differs from an intact carton. Avoid promising returns of cut or opened goods without a written commercial agreement. The stock system must not continue showing a complete carton after one panel is removed.
Control changes in packaging
A new packing format can change pieces per carton without changing the familiar décor name. GS1 product-management guidance explains why identification must respond to relevant product and supply-chain changes. For your internal system, record the packing revision and effective date. Do not apply the latest conversion retrospectively to older stock that remains on the shelf. Ask the supplier to confirm the packing basis with each quotation.
Reconcile the order before final acceptance
Compare purchase order, packing list, received carton count and opened-carton records. Resolve a unit mismatch before changing the physical quantity ordered. Train staff to ask whether a customer means gross material area or finished wall area. When forwarding a quote between Tashkent and a regional dealer, preserve the conversion note rather than copying only the price. This small discipline makes subsequent replenishment and complaint review much clearer.
Before you request a quotation
- Record quote unit and sales unit separately.
- Confirm effective coverage for the selected profile.
- Track partial cartons by remaining pieces.
- Keep old and new packing conversions distinguishable.
Frequently asked questions
Can nominal width be used for coverage?
Only if the supplier confirms it represents the installed coverage of that profile. Interlocking geometry can make the two values different.
Does a square-metre quote include installation waste?
Not automatically. Ask whether the quoted area describes supplied material or the project’s net wall area and how cutting allowances are treated.
