Pre-cut or full UV sheets for Uzbekistan projects?
Pre-cut UV marble sheets for Uzbekistan projects can appear to simplify installation, but cutting before final site measurement transfers decisions earlier in the order. Full-size sheets offer layout flexibility while requiring a capable local cutting and handling plan. The useful comparison is not simply material price: it is who owns dimensions, pattern position, edge finishing and replacement risk.

Compare both supply options against the same approved elevation. Specify finished dimensions, pattern orientation, edge treatment, packaging and responsibility for measurement. Never treat a provisional drawing as permission to produce non-returnable cut pieces.
Decide when dimensions become reliable
Ask the project team whether the substrate, adjacent joinery and finished floor levels are complete enough for final measurement. A structural drawing may not reflect the finished opening. For each cut piece, record which dimension is site-verified, who measured it and when it was released. If the wall is still changing, a full sheet or a later cutting decision may be more appropriate than an early precision order.
Write a piece schedule, not a total area
Assign a unique piece ID to each location. Include orientation, visible face, finished size, any cut-outs and which edges remain visible. Where a decorative vein crosses between pieces, show the intended arrangement rather than expecting random pieces to align. Mark the difference between finished sizes and any installer allowance. The supplier should identify any proposed departure before cutting, not after the packed pieces reach the project.
Compare the actual scope of both quotations
A pre-cut quotation may or may not include edge finishing, protective packing or individual piece labels. A full-sheet quote may omit local cutting, wastage and transport to the workshop. Put these scopes side by side and request actual prices instead of applying an assumed saving. Include the treatment of an incorrectly measured piece and the approval process for replacement production. Do not promise that either route eliminates site work.
Check whether the package can reach the work area
Review the largest packed piece and the path through the building, including turns and temporary storage. HSE construction guidance highlights that bulky loads and restricted routes matter in handling assessments; it does not provide a universal safe size. Have the responsible site team plan handling equipment and personnel. A pre-cut sheet is not automatically easy to carry, especially when a narrow remaining section surrounds a cut-out.
Keep an installation map with the delivery
Match package IDs to the approved elevation and unpack in a controlled sequence. Check dimensions and visible edges before permanent fixing. Retain a clear record of which pieces were accepted and which require clarification. If installers alter a pre-cut component, record the change and confirm the permitted method. A drawing stored only in the buyer’s email is not enough when the installation crew needs to locate the next piece.
Before you request a quotation
- Release dimensions only after a named measurement check.
- Identify each cut piece and its orientation.
- Compare cutting, finishing, packing and replacement scope.
- Provide the installation map with the delivery.
Frequently asked questions
Are pre-cut sheets always cheaper?
No. Compare real quotes and the whole fabrication scope. Site changes, individual packing and replacement pieces can change the result.
Can the supplier use the architect’s first drawing?
Only if it is explicitly approved for production and contains the required finished information. A concept drawing is not a verified cutting schedule.
