UV washbasin backsplashes: plan the penetrations
A UV marble backsplash in Uzbekistan may be selected for its decorative appearance, but the buyer still needs a complete detail around the basin, tap and adjacent surfaces. The sheet, joints, backing and penetrations are different parts of the assembly. A product description using the word waterproof does not resolve how a particular washbasin wall should be designed.
Start with a coordinated elevation showing fittings, joints and exposed edges. Have the project designer confirm the wall assembly and water-management detail, then request model-specific sheet and installation information. Do not infer assembly performance from the decorative surface alone.
Freeze the fitting positions before cutting
Obtain the basin and tap dimensions, including any wall-mounted components, brackets and service access. Measure against the finished installation position rather than a preliminary furniture drawing. Identify which holes are made before delivery and which are completed on site. A small change in tap location can invalidate a pre-cut piece, so record who has authority to release the final cutting information.
Keep decorative joints away from guesswork
Show where sheets meet the counter, side wall and any mirror or cabinet. Ask the responsible designer to specify the treatment of these junctions and the suitable materials. Review the pattern after penetrations are added
A vein that looks attractive on an uninterrupted sample may be cut through by a tap, mirror bracket or visible outlet. Place the fitting outline over the proposed pattern before approving the layout. Do not promise continuous bookmatching unless the chosen product and specific piece arrangement have been confirmed. A small colour sample cannot settle the full composition.
Plan handling for the remaining sheet geometry
Large holes or narrow strips can change how a fabricated piece is handled. Ask the fabricator how the piece will be supported, packed and moved to the wall. Inspect before the fittings conceal the work
Agree inspection points before the basin, mirror or other components cover critical junctions. If a site change moves a fitting or opens another penetration, return it for coordination rather than treating the decorative sheet as an unlimited repair surface.
